Hardcore means high stakes: hard difficulty, limited lives, or being banned when you die. Public hardcore often runs short seasons, or uses a lives system so one death is not always permanent.

Whitelists are common. If a server sells keep-inventory in the store, it is hardcore in name only.

Learn the revive rules before you play tired. Playing with friends on voice is a very different experience from solo public hardcore.
